 Thirty-five firefighters from Mexico are scheduled to be in the Sacramento area in the fall as part of the Bombero Program, a partnership between firefighters in the United States and Mexico. |

 On June 5th, 2008 -- thanks to the support of numerous Firefighters, Community Leaders and concerned citizens -- we were able to convince City Council to reduce the proposed Fire Company "Brownouts" from three companies per day to only one! |
 Operation Smoke Detector continues! Once again the day consisted of knocking on doors seeking, residents who were interested in the removal and replacement of non-working smoke detectors or the installation of new detectors in their homes. |

 In an effort to save lives in case of a fire, off-duty members of Firefighters for Sacramento City, volunteers and Sacramento City Council Member Kevin McCarty canvassed the neighborhood to promote awareness. |

In addition to being a Community Outreach Committee, Firefighters for Sacramento City is a Committee for Political Action. We are sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and Sacramento Area Fire Fighters, Local 522. The committee is comprised of a group of Sacramento City Firefighters committed to enhancing the safety and welfare of the citizens of Sacramento and to pursuing and solidifying better working conditions for the more than 600 professional Firefighters of the Sacramento Fire Department who have made public safety their life’s work.
